It is with great sadness that organisers have confirmed the passing of Aran Sadler following a tragic incident at the Bob Smith Spring Cup road races at Oliver’s Mount in Scarborough this weekend.
Aran Sadler, from County Durham, was involved in an accident during the first lap of the Supersport A race on Saturday. Despite immediate response from trackside medical teams, he sadly died as a result of his injuries.
Aran was widely known within the road racing community as a highly skilled and passionate competitor. He was the reigning overall Oliver’s Mount Racing Champion and had achieved multiple victories at the challenging Scarborough circuit. Described by organisers and fellow racers as a true competitor, he was deeply respected both on and off the track for his dedication to the sport he loved.
In a statement released on Saturday evening, Andy Hayes of Oliver’s Mount Racing expressed profound sorrow at the loss, noting that Aran was a “tremendously popular member” of the paddock community and someone who would be greatly missed by all who knew and raced alongside him.
Tributes have poured in from across the road racing world, with many remembering Aran not only for his achievements but also for his character, sportsmanship, and commitment to racing.
Organisers extended their deepest condolences to Aran’s family and his partner, Lorna, during what they described as an “absolutely devastating time.”
Following consultation with his family, it was confirmed that racing would continue on Sunday. However, officials asked all competitors, teams, and spectators to keep Aran in their thoughts and to show continued respect and support for his loved ones.
The organisers also thanked the public and racing community for their patience while awaiting confirmation of the news, saying the understanding shown meant a great deal to Aran’s family and everyone involved in the event.
