It is with deep sadness that the emergency medical services communities of York and Adams counties announce the passing of longtime EMT, firefighter, colleague, and friend, Kevin Brehm, who died on Friday at the age of 60.
Kevin was employed as an EMT with Dover Area Ambulance in York County when he suffered a sudden medical event while on duty at the station. His colleagues immediately recognized the seriousness of his condition and began providing urgent medical care without delay. He was promptly placed into an ambulance, where continued treatment was provided as additional support arrived.
Paramedics from UPMC LifeTeam also responded and assisted in his care, working alongside his coworkers to stabilize and transport him to York Hospital. Despite the swift and coordinated efforts of all involved, Kevin sadly passed away while receiving care at the hospital.
Kevin’s passing has left a profound void within the EMS and fire service communities he dedicated much of his life to serving. In addition to his role with Dover Area Ambulance, he was a life member of Northeast Adams Fire & EMS in Adams County. Over the years, he also served in leadership positions, including deputy chief, where he was respected for his experience, guidance, and steady commitment to helping others.
Those who worked alongside Kevin remember him not only for his professionalism and dedication to emergency services, but also for his kindness, mentorship, and unwavering willingness to assist both patients and colleagues in their time of need. His contributions left a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of serving with him.
Funeral arrangements for Kevin Brehm will be announced at a later date. In the meantime, his family, friends, and fellow first responders are being held in the thoughts of the broader emergency services community as they mourn this significant loss.
Kevin’s legacy of service, compassion, and commitment will be remembered with deep respect and gratitude.
