Barrister Shafique Ahmed breathed his last at approximately 5:45 p.m., according to family members. Details regarding his namaj-e-janaza and burial arrangements are expected to be announced at a later time.
A respected figure in both legal and political circles, Shafique Ahmed served as the Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs under the Awami League government from 2009 to 2014. During his tenure, he played a key role in shaping legal reforms and contributing to the country’s judicial framework.
In addition to his ministerial role, he held several prominent positions within the legal community. He was a former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association and also served as vice-chairman of the Bangladesh Bar Council, where he was known for his leadership and commitment to the rule of law.
